This past Sunday, the children learned about the healing power of Christ as he healed the hands of the man in the Synagogue on the Sabbath. We talked about how we can use our hands to do good for others. This was a great exercise to help the children realize they have the power to help others. Here's a few of the ideas the kids came up with:

  • making breakfast for their family
  • giving a high five
  • giving a hug
  • making a handmade present for someone else
  • helping their mom

This was a fun discussion and it prompts the question for today - how can you use your hands to help someone else?

Little Voices - Join Us June 24th!

We are planning our upcoming Children's Celebration service for Sunday, June 24th. As a special musical part of the service, children are invited to sing "I Will Call Upon the Lord" with us. The song with lyrics can be found here: https://youtu.be/vPsK9UiBFJI

We will each practice at home and then rehearse on Sunday June 17th immediately after church so that we can teach the children the hand motions to go with the song.

If your child would like to participate and sing with us on the 24th, please email Ginger@umcnb.org. And, you can start practicing at home now - using the Youtube link above.

Little Voices - Join Us this Easter!

We are delighted to invite children of UMC New Brunswick to sing at our upcoming Easter Service on Sunday, April 1, 2018. The children will be singing "Lord I Lift Your Name on High" during the 11AM service and ages 3 and older are welcome to sing along with us! Children will be practicing  immediately after church on March 11, 18, and 25.

Let's make a joyful noise this Easter!

Sunday School News:

Our one-room Sunday School model has expanded to include ages 3-5 as part of our Deep Blue curriculum. The Deep Blue program guides children around the world and through the Bible in just two years! Our weekly meetings now begin with a group worship song, a video Bible story and scripture followed by children breaking into smaller age appropriate groups for a deeper dive into the lesson with worksheets and crafts designed for their age group.

We wrapped up our 13 week winter unit about Kenya and the stories of Jesus in February with a fun craft - we made drums! Our spring unit began March 4th with an introduction to Alaska and the story of Mary pouring expensive perfume and wiping Jesus feet.

Youth Group News:

Our Youth Group for grades 6-9 enjoys weekly games and discussions that the youth and leaders like! Their Spice Rack curriculum is now focused on a Lenten series including topics on finding a spiritual mentor, integrity, justice and the prophets.
